Medical refresher course for captains and ship officers
The course complies with the requirements of:
- §109 clause 1 sentence 4 of the Maritime Labour Act,
- Article 5 of the directives 92/29/EEC
- Appendix 4 and 5 to the Ordinance on Maritime Medicine Requirements on Merchant Vessels
and is accredited by BG Verkehr.
The contents of STCW Code Section A-VI/4 are considered to their full extent in the Maritime Medicine Ordinance.
Contents of this course are: assessment of risk situations, rescue, emergency measures for accidents and diseases, medical advice by radio, stock transfer and transport, investigative techniques, special diseases, other treatment measures, ships pharmacy, medical guide, administrative forms as well as national and international maritime medical provisions.
The course is given by the lecturer for health care of the maritime department of the University of Emden/Leer and takes place in the vicinity of the College.
The continuations of the training takes place interactively in small groups, a practice-oriented education is guaranteed by the fully equipped ship pharmacy.
In March 2014 the course was certified by the BG Verkehr und Transport.
